transmission service question Posted by Jake [Email] (#225) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jake) on Wed, 12 Jun 2002 21:08:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm on my second transmission. It's an Ericson (sp?). I've got a 1989 900S. It was put in around 5 years ago when the original conked. I've never had it serviced and noticed today that fluid is brown (not pink) and smells slightly burned. Should I have it serviced? If so, should I just have them change the fluid and clean the screen, or have them hook it up to the machine that really cleans it out?? ALso, if so, should I change to synthetic fluid??? I know the old addage about leaving a transmission alone if you haven't kept the service up. Would greatly appreciate some advice; I've got to take the car into the shop for other stuff in the morning.
Thank you in advance for your help.
