Need some advice on this one boys!

Attempted to unload the front suspension using a homespun spacer tool which has worked nicely over the last three years. This
time though as I lowered the A-arm the force of the spring crushed the body of the car rendering the spacer useless. I have
seen the shop tool which gets placed on the spring allowing it to be compressed. Any thoughts on an alternative would be
greatly appreciated. I have an old style hook setup which will compress the spring on various american and possibly euromades
but my respect for the damage causing potential of that spring has kept me from trying it. I need my teeth. Thanks
