To add to what JimBlake said, pop out the spark plugs and tell up what the porcelains look like: Black? White? Light tan?
If you're getting raw gas smell out of the tail pipe. Something is truly not right.
Take a look at these things:
Is the hose that goes between the intake manifold and Fuel Pressure Regulator (small canister on the back of the fuel rail) securely on both ends? Are there any cracks or checks in the hose? If the hose is off or cracked, it can make the car run rich when the throttle is closed and rum poorly any other time.
Take the hose I mentioned above off from the intake manifold side. is there gas dripping from it or a strong gas smell? If yes, replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
Like Jim, I don't think that the first place to look is at the injectors themselves, and a fresh tuneup is a good start.
