Passive seat belts.. *PLEASE read* Posted by Jake [Email] (#225) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jake) on Thu, 1 Aug 2002 16:43:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This goes out to anyone with passive seat belts on their OG 900. Yesterday, a 17 year old that lived in my town was killed when his 88 900 drifted across the center line and hit another car head on. He was thrown from the vehicle and killed. He was NOT wearing his shoulder belt, but WAS wearing his lap belt, which tells me that the car had passive belts and he was only using the lap belt because the shoulder belt was broken. Please, if you have passive seat belts that don't work, get them fixed! Swapping over to regular seat belts is surprisingly easy, and this was actually the very first repair I did on my 88 900S over 2 years ago. Remember, that shoulder belt does no good if it is not snapped in OR tight. If anyone is curious, i'm in Central Maine, and a picture of the car after the accident is on the front page of the Morning Sentinel, which can be found online if anyone wants to see the pic.
safety first,
Jake
