Lots of info on this (some of it confusing) here and on Performance BB- search on "AMM adjust". I assume you have LH2.2 w/ adjustment screw on AMM, and that your O2 sensor is working (putting out a voltage)?--- you can easily adjust for close loop by connecting digital (high impedance) voltmeter to O2 sensor (leave sensor lead connected, just tap in with probe). Then adjust AMM to give equal swings in O2 voltage on either side of 0.5V. Resistance between pins 3 and 6 of AMM (remove connector to measure) should end up somewhere between 300 and 600 ohms, with 380 as start point on new AMM.
This will get you running in closed loop operation, but when you first start the engine the O2 sensor isn't active and the engine relies on the AMM to meter air/fuel. I'm not sure what you do if the idle is ok after the O2 sensor starts working (1 min or so), but not on cold start.
