Redline is great for shifting and better than standard oil for the bearings. Redline adds friction material to the oil to help the synchros get a grip and shift faster. Amsoil series 2000 20W50 is the best for lubing the bearings. It's not designed as a tranny oil and doesn't have friction additive. My feelings are I can put up with some slower shifting in the mornings to gain protection for the pinion and other bearings. I've put about 120K on my '87 spg in the past 5 yrs and ran high boost the entire time. I ran redline for around 20k and amsoil for the rest. As much as I like amsoil I'll have to say tranny life depends most on how you shift. IF you slam it into second gear a few times a day don't expect it to last more than a couple years! You can't drive it like a mopar.
