No, nothing too special or delicate (other than difficulty accessing things next to the firewall), except on cars with dual fanbelts for the alternator/waterpump: be sure to buy a "matched set" of belts from a competent SAAB parts supplier (see sponsors). Mismatched belts can cause problems. Also, don't overtighten or you will shorten alternator or waterpump bearing life. Regarding the squealing, don't overlook testing the harmonic balancer for slippage, as this is a frequent problem with old generation 900s.
The evaporator pan is on the firewall, above the passengers feet. Just proceed up the wall from the inside until you find it, about a foot above the floor. Also search the archives for ways to clean out the drain hose.
