Starter solenoid or electrical

Until I read some of the posts on this site about starters I was convinced that the starter solenoid on my 87 900T w/98k was dying. Whats happening is, ONLY on occasion, the car wont start as if the starter is not getting any power. Not even a click with a fully charged battery. After push starting, it will start fine for a few weeks until it happens again. I was just about to go out and buy a rebuilt starter thinking the solenoid is just freezing up. This dosent sound like a wiring harness does it?
