Chris,
On the rear engine seal ....Your right at it doing the clutch job. Its a very important RUBBER part thats been there for 10 or better years and excess of 100,000 miles. It holds the oil in the motor PLUS by removing the flywheel, it simplifies the removal and install of the pilot bearing that fits in the flywheels center. Trying to get this boy out with the flywheel installed is a job in confined area. WHILE you have the flywheel off, its usually only $30.00 to have it resurfaced. The resurface job will lighten the flywheel so the engine will rev up quicker and most of all lessens the risk of error because of clutch seating. The error would show up as a chatter on take off and reduced clutch disc life.
Good Luck. Take it one step at a time and keep focused on what you are doing. You can do it.
Thanks,
Tom Townsend
