Ari makes some good points. I assume turbo (if you see a wonderful 900S only get it if it is a 2.0 (NOT 2.1) which I think is 1992 but not 1993) Ari mentioned clutches but many convertibles out there are automatic. Be careful with automatic transmission. If you have a choice go for manual, but you might not. The automatic shouldn't put you off (purests will say never touch them). The shift should be smooth up and down; check for oil leaks; listen to the power steering, pull the steering wheel to the extremes to see if you get strange sounds or feel, the rack tends to go (see this list) as the cars get older. The top is expensive if it needs repair/change. The turbo should boost into the red. Make sure there is no smoke from the turbo. Don't overlook the electrics. Everything should work but things tend to go.
