As a college student, most of my friends have either no car, or a small compact of sort or another. A constant source of pride and amusment, is my 87 SPG's ability to be a superb performer, mobile sound stage, bus, and the occasional moving van. I've helped numerous friends move in or out of houses. Till recently, the would always ask for my help in the sense that I would provide some human muscle power to move stuff to and from a rented Uhaul of some sort or another.

On one such occasion, they simply couldn't fit one last item into the truck.... which of course was a huge couch. Given, I have no idea why she didn't want it put into the truck first but we had a 2 hour drive ahead of us and no one wanted to have to drive all the way back just to pick up one more thing. I suggested that we put it in my saab and everyone looked at me and laughed. Up until this point they all had experienced that sporty performance aspect of the car, but had no idea that a hatchback could be actually be put to practical use.

Anyways, I folded the back seat down and loaded the couch in. Given, it stuck out the back a bit and I definently couldn't close the hatch door, so I tied everything down and went on as planned. Afterwhich, I gained a lot of confidence in my "Swedish Truck's" ability and have moved a wide assortment of items ranging from an 35" TV to kind sized futon (broken down a bit of course).

In the end, I couldn't be happier with my saab. I just chalk it up as one of the many reasons as to why I'm a huge saabophile. For me, it just doesn't get any better than this!

Cheers!
