Just purchased an '86 900S with 101K miles on it that was owned by a 90 year old couple. They didn't let on that anything was wrong with the car ( All I got was a blank stare and the phrase " Jee, it alway ran fine for us!!"). Anyway, the car would not start on an intermittent basis. At first, I thought it was the fuel pump. But after doing a little research on this list AND the Townsend site trouble shot the problem down the the "System" and "Fuel pump" relays.

Replaced both relays for $17 each and the car starts like a new car. In looking at the relays, I found that the "Systems" relay had a high resistance on one of the contacts, which I guess was causing the rest of the system to hang-up.

Anyway, another "Save" as a result of Saabnet.
