Pretty good list already going- I see absent, that is must keep in the trunk- a good rag (meaning... not small), a coat hanger (for those damn rubber exhaust hangers) and just about everything in your garage by way of tools- or at least a cresent (large and small), x and flat tip screws. And what you've mentioned.
I grabed an extra scissor jack for free off a junk- nice and of course... cheap. Cinder blocks will hold her up (1 high!)- those drive on ramps make me nervous.
The garge tools can get very $$$$, but I realized some years ago- the right tool makes the job! That is for all the guys ramming screw drivers into oil filters to get them off. Before you sink into a tough job- visit the BB for tool ideas... I'm not saying you need the Craftsman catalog in your home Saab shop.
