Might be ball joints? The right lower ball joint is usually the first to go, as that's where most potholes are, right? Not sure what you mean by a flexing sound, but if it's banging, it's probably either the shock bushings (post above) or the ball joints. If it sounds like rubber creaking, then it's probably a bushing on either the shocks or the stabilizer bar.
To check the lower ball joints, you must insert a spacer between the upper A-arm and the body before you jack the car off the ground. SAAB makes a special tool for this, but most people on this board use a couple of old brake pads, large nuts, etc. If you don't use the spacer, you will observe the ball joint at an angle, giving false results.
