Wally,
I recently added fog lights--after I learned that I could do so using existing SAAB wiring--to my '84 900S, which didn't have fogs when I got it. I had scored a pair of fog light brackets and the SAAB fog light relay and dash switch from an '83 900T in a local junkyard. I later bought acutal SAAB fog lights themselves, from a TSN classified ad.

I installed the hardware (all exc. the lights) months before I got the original SAAB lights, then determined where the fog light wires were located in the engine bay using my trusty multimeter. (The wires on my '84 were zip-tied up to the main wiring harness which runs across the lower radiator support frame member, beneath the radiator fans, one pair of fog light wires per side.)

The wires end in female bullet connectors with red plastic insulation around the ends, one red and one black wire in a wire loom (insulation sheath), per side.

If your fog lights have wires which end in male spade lug terminals (flat, like a reg. screwdriver), then either cut off the spade lug terminals and crimp on male bullet connectors (I got some at Wal-Mart) OR, if wires from fog lights WON'T reach the wires from the car harness, make a 12" or so wire ending in a female spade connector (to fog light) and male bullet connector (to car harness) on opposite end.

The 900's existing fog light wires should have current ONLY when the fog light relay is installed in the little extra relay box (to the rear of the driver's side headlight, but forward of the fusebox) AND the headlight knob is in the headlight-on or parking light-on positions AND the ignition switch is in Accessory or On positions AND the headlights must NOT be on high beam. Fog light wires should NOT have current when headlights are off or when high beams are on.

I hope this helps!
