I installed a pressure relief valve (Norgen model??)that opens when the turbo pressure is greater than 5 psi. It's installed in line between the APC solenoid valve and the turbo. The technical term is a manual boost controller and they've discuss them extensively on the performance board. The result is much faster spoolup times for the turbo. By default the APC computer pulses the solenoid continuously and bleeds some pressure to the
wastegate during spoolup. The relief valve just cuts off the pressure source to the valve until P > 5psi, then it behaves normally. You get all the APC protection but your spool ups are faster.
The other thing I'd do is install an MSD BTM timing controller. Jeff Cunningham has some notes about it on his web site.
Those two items really help.
