is far longer than any reasonable person should expect a mass-manufactured automobile to perform as a daily driver without the possibility of running into a failure such as you experienced. Fortunately it was not catastrophic. That type of failure is probably an indication of the difference in philosophies between U.S. and European manufacturers: A U.S. - built car would probably have become un-driveable years ago due to worn-out springs, bushings, and such because they were carting around an extra 500 or more pounds. The Europeans designed the car to closer tolerances and they will last longer, but they are not infallible. Bottom line is no one yet has made a mass-produced car that will last forever. Thanks for sharing your experience, it might help prevent a similar event.
