I vote BMW, although I have not driven a 325i (currently own a 5-series). BMW's inline 6's are almost bulletproof, but the 4's have the same problems as the 2.1L 900s - head gasket. I strongly recommend against a 4 cylinder BMW for many reasons.
The BMW will be more reliable than the Saab, but parts & labor will be higher. May be a wash. Frankly, I think BMWs drive much better than Saabs and are in general better cars (this may not be the proper forum to say this, so I will slip into my flame suit now).
