Even though I'm not an 8-valve guy, ... Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Wed, 6 Aug 2003 08:12:53 In Reply to: Re: yet another fuel system question, Sharon, Wed, 6 Aug 2003 07:45:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
(and I don't play one on TV) I have read a bunch of posts over the years about problems with the fuel distributors on 8-valve CIS injection to make me think that the piston that regulates fuel flow might be gummed up.
As long as you have spark and it runs when you spritz starting fluid in like you indicated, the ignition distributor is probably ok.
Another idea ... Just for the heck of it, have you changed the fuel filter? Even though you have fuel on both sides of it, the flow through a partialy-clogged filter might not be adequate to get correct mixture for starting. (I hate to throw parts at cars for diagnosing them. The good thing is that it's in a *much* better location than on the 16-valve cars.)
And, have you pulled any of the spark plugs to see if they're wet with gas?
