I was "fortunate" to pick of a '86 SPG for a paultry $200 at one fo those car donation charity auctions at the begining of the summer. It was burning coolant on the way home (that's the white smoke) and turned out to have a head gasket failure at the #1 cylinder. After my first DIY head job I out on the first test drive, still on my street no less, when the bearing in the turbo exploded passing tons of oil into the exhaust (that'll be your blue smoke). Newer water-jacket turbo on there. Fish out a host of smaller bugs, front wheel bearings, vaccum issues, a intermitent miss, etc. Yesterday i think I finaly after a few months have think I have it all sorted out when the check engine light comes on, engine bogs down and black sooty smoke is coming out the tail pipe. Seems the AMM had bit the dust and the engine was more flooding than running rich.

So that's one old SPG, one summer and all 3 different color smoke you can get out of the tail pipe. Here's hoping its done.
