Sharon,
Based on your testing, the problem is either the fuel pump relay or the ignition module. I'm going with the fuel pump relay. Even if the cold start injecter wasn't working, you would get a hard start in this climate, especially in high altitude.
Secondly, don't take the fuel distributor apart. You will regret it. It won't work properly and will leak. Gasoline doesn't gum up unless there is water present in it OR it's been sitting for awhile. By awhile I mean years.
If the fuel squirts with the pump relay socket jumpered when the air flow sensor plate is lifted, you have all the ingredients for a start as far as fuel is concerned. The only thing left is whether or not the fuel system knows the engine is starting. As mentioned before, the fuel pump relay and pulses from the ignition module are the signals to the fuel system to get ready and run.
If you have a friend with a similar model year SAAB, swap their pump relay with yours and see if it works.
Good luck.
JD
