I've done this four times over the past 2 years (last week, most recently: and it became an overnight job), and have regreted it every time, sadly (trying to eliminate squeaks/ rattles arghhh)...
Here's a give a couple of tips, to save some grief when putting things back together:
1) Be careful when removing the 4 long screws that hold the centre piece (with heater controls, stereo etc.) to the larger dash, because there are plastic sleeves that can easily fall out, making it difficult when [blindly] lining up each screw with the upper hole in the dash.
2) Note the small scores on each of the screws, and where they come from, because each screw is of a different length (|, ||, |||, and ||||).
3) Be careful when removing/ reinstalling, because the lower guides in the centre dash part (the things that hold it in place) are small moulded plastic loops: they break easily (you'll see what I mean when you've removed it: no need to take out the WHOLE dash for this job).
4) To line up the heater shaft, you'll need to remove the left speaker grille, and guide it while reinstalling the centre part (it helps to have two people with this: one to gently line up the centre part of the dash, and one to guide the heater shaft).
*NB. Bentley guide helps somewhat.
Cheers,
Craig.
