so when it kept dying every few days, I replaced it. The new battery was able to keep the trunk light going without going dead. But the alarm still was wacky. That's when I found out the light was on, and the alarm sw for the trunk was the culprit. I could not determine that the light was really on, because the lid blocks out light before it actually closes. I took the license bracket off so I could see light through the screw holes. That was the clincher.
