As some of you may know I've had some posts on here regarding the poor performance of my 83 900 Turbo. I have had some great suggestions and the car is slowly turning back to normal performance, but today, on my way to a meeting I started experiencing the same old symptoms. These include: black exhaust (rich mixture), poor to little response on acceleration and general lack of power, a severe hesitation on a hard acceleration with black exhaust. What's more is that it happens at strange times. I had the car running for a good 15-20 mins. before this problem started. It lasted about another 15 minutes then seem to run OK again. Also, I have driven several miles in the last week or so with no problems other than a hesitation when I jab the pedal.
This sites users and Bentley have directed me to the following (please note, before these changes I had severe driveability problems):
New O2 Sensor
New Thermo-time switch
New Auxilliary Air Valve
New Auxilliary Air Valve Hoses
Cleaned Throttle housing
Checked Vacuum system for leaks
Replaced some vacuum hoses, system tests OK now.
Tested cold start valve. Checks out OK
Found a bad ground connection on the time relay (fixed).
Checked and adjusted fuel/Air mixture w/ digital dwell meter.
Haven't Checked:
Spray pattern on fuel injectors
Modulation valve
Cold/Hot start relay
Thermo Switch (in thermostat housing)
ECLD Charcoal canister
The ground connections look OK and my voltmeter hasn't turned up any bad ground connections, but I'm not finished testing all possible ground connections.
I could be totally off, but I'm suspecting the charcoal canister or the thermo switch, both of which, are hard to find items for an 83 900T.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sean H.
