by an out of state slob, and I did get low balled. They totaled it and said they would give me $1500 for a car that blue booked at $5000 at the time. I told them that was ridiculous, and presented them with the 6 month old, $2600 receipt for a new transmission. He then raised it to $2400. I said no again. There were two routes to take then; arbitration or the route I took. They are responsible for REPLACING your vehicle. So, I searched the entire state for a replacement with the exact condition I had in my vehicle. There were none to be found, but I found 20+ cars that were worse off and were asking for more than what I had been offered. I ended up (after 6 MONTHS) getting $4500 AND the totaled vehicle back (minus towing). So, depending on your state laws, you may be able to tell your guy no and get more to what you know you deserve. Good luck!
