It's surprisingly easy, considering it's major surgery. Because of the interesting (peculiar?) engine mounting in a Saab - ass end forward, the clutch is highly accessable.
I replace the clutch in my 99 in three hours, in a parking lot, by myself. And at that time it was far and away the most complex task I had attemped.
The issue with turbo/non-turbo is the need to remove plumbing from in front of the clutch housing. There's nothing hard about it, it's just a few more steps. If there is any recommendation I can make, it's that it really is easier if you remove stuff. The impulse is to leave as much stuff on as possible, and try and work around it. This is usually a false economy. You'll end up spending more time trying to work around that hose, skin your hands more, and potentially screw things up, than if you just spent the 10 minutes to remove it.
Get yourself a Haynes manual at a minimum, the Bentley manual is best. I'd go OEM clutch, but that's me.
It's a nice job to do, in terms of the feeling of accomplishment.
