Kevin,
The toughest bolt is the lower one on the rear (firewall) bracket. I go at it from below and -- because I lack the proper tools -- use a couple different wrenches depending on which one reaches best. I borrowed a high-quality ratchet a couple months ago that would make things easier: it is articulated right below where the socket fits and the handle swivels. A couple of short wobble extensions would help, too. Maybe Santa will shop Snap-On or Mac Tools this Christmas.
Oh, I remove the air cleaner/AMM for a bit more room.
The passenger side lower bolt is a bit easier to reach but still kind of a pain. I go at it from above using a ratchet and thread my hand around the back of the motor mount.
Also, you'll need some leverage to push the upper A-arm in toward the motor so you can slide in the shims. I use a couple of those cheap-o pry bars & some wood. Removing the wheel makes this easier.
When I set the car up again this spring, I'll be using the string method, too. I'm getting an inexpensive camber gauge, too...
FWIW, with aggressive driving habits and 1 degree negative camber & no toe, my last set of tires wore evenly across the tread.
