Thanks for your help and replies thus far!
I think i'm going to try the 'fix' i mention in the post below "master yoke" unless somebody tells me by tomorrow morning that it's doomed to fail from the start. I figure i don't have much to lose (only time) and this will prolong the replacement of the master and slave. I took measurements tonite (and can almost remove all the pedal parts by feel i've done it so many times already!) and tomorrow will see if i can have any local ironwork shop make me the two rectangular pieces i need to go on the side of the yoke.
Unless somebody tells me to stop my pursuit and 'rigged' fix, i'll report back as to how it goes. We're expecting a cold spell in the next few days so it may take awhile to get some weather that is required for JB Weld to properly hold.
