Regarding my on-going saga of an intermittant hesitation with small throttle excursions under light load: fixed!
After much cursing, and while pondering it all over a few beers after turkey, I thought to my self "what actually changes on small throttle excursions? ans. 1. the amount of air going through the AMM, been changed. 2. the exhaust gas ratio for a few seconds, O2 sensor has been changed, and there's too much mass for it react that quickly anyways. 3. instantanious vacumm, OK what will that effect? Only the ign advance.
So, I pulled the distrib and disassembled it. (by the way-those little 2-jaw pullers they sell for batt terminals are fine for removing the rotor)
The bearing area the hall sensor plate rides on was all grunged up. the plate would move with changes in applied vacumm, but would stick, then move, didn't return to start position all the time, etc. I also found that the hole in the vacumm arm that controls the plate motion was cruddy/sticky too.
Cleaned & lightly lubed everything, put it all back together, and it's great; no more hesitation at all.
