I'd try 36 front 32 rear and adjust from there depending on wear and handling. I like a couple more psi in front for bite since the stock sway bars and handling are predisposed to understeer. 40psi is great for the autocross but will damage your tire carcass in regular street driving. 44psi max is the tire manufacurer's rating for load carrying...nothing to do with your normal street tire use!
If your tires are wearing on the outside edge (front tires especially) you have too much toe in, something is bent (bad camber), or you REALLY like to go around corners :>)
If you put 40psi on those tires you're going to wear them out a lot quicker in the center of the tread...too little air and they'll wear inside and outside tread. Think of it like Goldilocks...just right!
