I've busted many 3/8" adapters trying to apply to much torque through it.
Finding an E16 1/2" socket in a store is almost impossible. I went to http://www.snapon.com and bought a bunch for me and my friends.
With a long 1/2" breaker bar and a good socket, you shouldn't have any problems loosening the bolts.
