I was in a Dentist's office the other day, looking through an old Motor Trend (Sept 02, I believe) and there was an article on the Accord and Camry, and how they've gotten to the point where they are no longer a “driving experience” but a tool to get you reliably from A to B. That article kind of summed up the reason I drive a Saab (aside from the safety). It's not exactly a “reliable” car, it's not really cool (all though some of my 12 daughter's friends think it is, not so sure if their mom's would though)! But it is just plain fun to drive! You don't see a lot of them around here, and when you do, you always get “the wave” from the other driver.
I'm in Sales, and most of my fellow salespeople drive Accords, Gran Prix's, Malibu's etc. Your typical “sales car”. They think I'm a bit strange driving a 19 year old 5-speed, 3-door Swedish car, but as I drive away from the office at the end of the day, and hear the tone of the exhaust, I'm smiling!
There aren't alot of cars that fit that bill. Volvo's aren't really the same (though I like them, and have owned an 850 T wagon), I had a VW GTI for awhile that was close. But there's just something about a Saab!
Whew! Sorry for being so long winded, but I needed to get that off my chest.
