Hello,

I am a student who bought a used 89 saab 900 (not the turbo).
I took it to a shop who said the engine looked good. I needed to
get a tune up, oil change, and a fuel injection cleaning and I'd be set.
The air filter was previously replaced too.

The car runs great but it takes like 10 cranks to start. I'm worried I'm going to burn the starter. I was told by a top SAAB mechanic that it needs a new fuel pump check valve but I checked it and someone took off the check valve and both ends of the line are unobstructed.

so whaddya think? No mechanic really knows. think I need a new fuel pump or something? Get this too. It starts better cold than it does warm.

please help.
