Hey John,
We spotted each other's 900 hatchbacks in Providence last year. I remember yours clearly, since it was in such great shape.
My 900 S was a brown 5-speed with scuffed up paint, but a pretty good body. Unfortunatly, it got totalled in August when someone ran a stop sign and broad-sided me. It had about 170K mi. on it, and the engine was going strong.
I have since picked up a silver 1984 900 S sedan, 5-speed, that I bought from my Saab mechanic, Conn-Tech in Warwick. It's sort of a beater, with some rust and bondo around the front right fender and a ding in the right passenger door. But it just turned 200,000 mi. old, and runs perfectly. I drive it to Vermont regularly, as well as daily trips around town and down to Narragansett and up to Boston. Mechanically, it's in better shape than my old one, but I do miss the hatchback.
You should check out Conn-Tech if you're shopping for a new C900. Mike usually has a few of 'em for sale.
Good luck,
-jw
