1986 900, my first SAAB. Boiled down my (apparently common) hot-start problem to the hot start relay, except that two problems came up.

One: I cannot find this relay on the net to order. The one place that could "get it" for me, wanted more than $60. Right...

Two: If I dissconnect the hot start relay, car will not start or even attempt to start. If I disconnect the cold start valve as well, car acts the same way- nothing. But, if I reconnect everything, I must crank 6-7 times ( acts like it wants to start, but then dies within 2 seconds) before the car starts. Could this mean the relay is good and something ELSE is the problem or do these relays "forget" the pulse on-off times?

I've been around Bosch CIS/Motronics most of my life but this is my first run in with this relay. It gets very tense when I get into my daily driver knowing I'll spend 5 extra minutes trying to get it started...
