I wouldn't bother unless its leaking. My experience has been that the older 900's (before SAAB started using the blue antifreeze) don't seem to reqire headgaskets as often as long as they had their coolent changed every couple years. While the engine is out, I'd also do your alternator bushings, and make sure the upper control arm bushings are in good shape, the driver side ones are almost imposible to do with the engine in the car.
