2 questions- Why do I see so many posts on the location of the rad fan switch as being on the upper drivers side radiator corner, when I cannot find such thing on my 1986 900? I have a very large switch on the upper radiator hose and it looks factory...and even though I bought a lower temp switch, the fans won't turn on till' the needle is tickling the red-zone!! Why!!??
Why did my cooling problems go from none, (preventive maintenance) to very bad, after a chemical flush of the cooling system, new pump, lower temp thermostat and Redline Water Wetter/Zerex G05/water mix and a good purge???!!! I will take the radiator out to have a shop flush it or buy a new one, but I saw NO crud come out when I did the flush 2 months ago. Now the only time the needle goes under 1/2 is if there is an open road ahead.
I dont want to blow the head gasket but what's goig on???!!! I did the same op on my XJ and 635 (notorious for overheating) and they never get past 1/2 no matter what.
