LH 2.4 Fault Diagnosis

On Sunday I decided to clean the engine compartment of my girlfriend's '89 900T with some Simple Green and a garden hose. I made sure to wrap up things that I thought shouldn't get wet (AMM and distributor). I cleaned it up a little and took a short drive, ran great. Came back and decided to clean it out some more. Tried to drive it an hour later and it ran like crap, Check Engine light on, could barely get out of the driveway, kept stalling. I checked under the distributor cap, no moisture, I figured something else must've gotten wet so I left it to dry overnight. I tried starting it again this afternoon, ran awful again and kept dying so I decided to get the LH fault codes. I came up with "12224" (Air-fuel mixture too rich) and "12111" (Oxygen sensor self-compensating circuit problem: incorrect air-fuel mixture while driving). Both of these faults point towards the ECLD valve as something to check out. So what exactly does the ECLD valve do? I know it's the thing sitting on top of the charcoal canister. I'm thinking that maybe I shorted it out or something while spraying the engine compartment. Would a faulty ECLD valve make the car pretty much undriveable? I already checked all of the vacuum hoses, etc. and can't find a leak. The only other thing it mentions is fuel pressure but I don't see how spraying down the engine compartment would affect that unless it's just some coincidence. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
