try a small set of vise-grips; i have a nice needle-nosed type that works well. also, a flexible shaft driver can be used to unscrew the screws. if it's *really* tough, drain the coolant reservoir, and detach the hose from it to the engine for a bit more room. consider replacing the "boogered" screws with hex bolts with flat-head groove in them...
