Did I hurt my new Saab’s feelings? I looked at a house for sale last night and commented to my fiancé that the little side garage would just fit a ’67 Sonnet (not that I own one, yet). So on the way home, my 92t with 119k miles decided to sputter immediately after pressing the pedal down when accelerating from a stop, no problem on the highway, and stalled twice while sitting at lights on the way home. I looked the car over this morning before driving to work and found nothing loose and pulled the spark plugs and they all looked clean. The problem didn’t repeat on the way to work. This seems like it might be a heat related problem, perhaps the coil or the distributor?

I bought the car about four months ago and I’ve replaced: the distributor cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs (all good quality stuff), the fuel filter, most vacuum lines and grommets, and the PCV check valve. Perhaps unrelated, I’ve replaced these things trying to solve another problem: the car has a flat spot on acceleration under load. It misses at about 2.5-3k rpm in hard acceleration going uphill and at about 3-4k rpm on flats. Otherwise the motor feels great. The tachometer doesn’t bounce; the compression is rock solid 155-165 psig on all four cylinders (my gauge might read high, 9:1 compression would be 130 psig, right?). Anyone have similar problems that they found a cure for?

Thanks in advance for any ideas,
GregR
