The picture is a little confusing. The top stack adjustment is basically in the body of the car just behind the driver's and passenger's doors - around the main hinge for the convertible top.
Open the hood about three quarters or a little more and look down onto the main hinge area - you may have to remove a piece of velcroed material that acts as a dust/moisture cover. Now you should be able to align the drawing and the car!
On the side of the assembly towards the inside of the car and about 3 inches down you will see the two bolts the Service Bulletin talks about (one above the other). Measure up and adjust - I made the adjusting tool in two minutes from a bit of scrap wood. On my car (93 900i)the 71 mm coincided with maximum adjustment - ie I couldn't adjust to less than 71 mm.
