Do tell you would buy a lesser car when you... Already have an awesome car. I'd scoop yours up in a heartbeat. That's like saying "Hmmm...my Porsche has had some problems...I'm going to trade it in for a Miata." The logistics just don't work out.
Yes the Scion may be reliable, but it is cheap, cheap quality, cheap ride, and cheap everything else...compared to the quality of your Saab. Not only are you taking a huuuge hit financially from depreciation, it is the first MY of a car and you'll be running into all types of niggly bits of annoying problems. Plus, after the newness and the coolness wears off, your going to hate driving it compared to the Saab.
So either get the Scion and keep the Saab (not gonna get much in trade anyways) or buy a CPO 9-3 or 9-5. That way you won't take a financial hit, you'll get a car that has had all the bugs worked out and still have a great warantee. That's my $.02
