I was just playing with the brackets on my car. It occurs to me now that you may not want to use the later, 5-speed bracket that I wrote about custominzing to fit. This is because it is designed to hold the downpipe from underneath. Why is this a problem? Well, you won't be able to remove the downpipe unless you remove the bracket. To remove the bracket, you're looking at draining the gearbox oil, as it will leak out the inner driver bolt holes. The 4-speed bracket passes over the top of the downpipe; a removable U-clamp then cradles it from below.
Either the proper, 4-speed bracket or a custom piece should probably be used. For me, draining gear oil just to get the downpipe off is too much trouble. I'm messing with my engine and taking off the downpipe too often...
