Mis adjusted throttle linkage/idle switch or an AMM that is going bad making the car run too lean at cold start.
What RPM do you have with warm engine when you ground the AIC test wire at power steering reservoir?
It is the single wire at the same spot as the 3 wire test plug to test fuel mixture.
The idle shouldn't drop down to more than 600-700 RPM.
Does you throttle body have the extra idle adjusting screw and lock nut that is inserted vertically into the TB?
All 8 valve engine and 85 16V have them and some 86 16 V.
The screw and nut has a 10mm head.
That screw should be in all the way with a cleaned out throttle body.
You use the smaller idle adjusting screw (8mm lock nut) to set the idle at around 600-700 with grounded AIC valve.
