Just had to do this the other day. I used one of the oil filter wrenches with three fingers that clamp on to the end of the filter. With the right ratchet handle it does fit in there. A flex--handle ratchet helps. I could only get a very small swing at a time, but it was enough.
When you put the new one on remember how hard it was and don't make it too tight.
