I just switched from Jamex to Intrax springs- Posted by IrieTom [Email] (#1032) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IrieTom) on Fri, 10 Dec 2004 07:36:05 In Reply to: Will I be happy with INTRAX springs....., KB900psi, Thu, 9 Dec 2004 18:37:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After 70,000 miles, one of my Jamex springs (front driver side) broke into 4 pieces as I was jacking up the other side of the car to replace some brake parts.
The Intrax springs seem to be a bit heavier and stiffer than the Jamex, and don't drop the ride height nearly as much. Coupled with Koni shocks (set one click stiffer than the factory default), the ride quality is actually quite compliant- not as harsh as you would expect a high-performance suspension to be.
At this point, I've only replaced the front springs. I'll wait for warmer weather to do the rear springs and renew all of the suspension bushings back there too. If you are a DIYer, front spring replacement is quite easy once you figure out where exactly to put the spring compressors. The toughest part was getting the shock absorbers back onto their lower mounts.
