I used to have a 63 Lincoln convertible. I bought a hardtop for spare parts for $200. While dismantling the trunk panels, I found a bank envelope with 8 - $10 bills.
Also , one of the things you read about in the papers, I once recieved an envelope from my car insurance company. I grabbed a beer and sat down, anticipating bad news, increase or cancellation. It was a letter and a check saying "you have overpaid your premium in the amount of $60,000"
Well, after consulting a number of lawyers, who all convinced it would be fraud if I cashed it, I finally called them and told them of their mistake. It was supposed to be for $60. They asked for the check back,I told them they could stop payment if they like, I would not cash it before the expiration date, BUT THEY AIN'T GETTING THEIR CHECK BACK EVER.
If it had 1 more zero added on, I'd be writing this note from the Cayman Islands today, but $60K wasn't enough for a major lifestyle change, not enough to feed the family for more than a year & a half, maybe.
