Not long ago my 87 900 turbo showed low oil pressure.I changed the oil/filter and it went back to normal. Yesterday I noticed it higher than usual--Normal gauge readings were 20+ at idle to 40-45 at 2000 rpm+.
Now it is about 40psi at idle and 60 at 200+rpm. I think I should be suspecting the oil pressure regulator sticking or faulty but dont yet know how to check it out. Anyone with experience with it? Is a replacement,if needed expensive? can I change it myself? how hard? can I drive the car as is until I get a chance to take care of it?

ps I had to leave my car on the street night of heavy snow and plow hit it causing 2 dents and long crease,hit and run and wont admit it. will do the best I can to fix it (no body damage until this)
