have same '85 setup and strongly agree w/ benefit of new/turned fresh rotors, braided stainless lines, good pads, good bleed. Also, look at rear rotors - if the brake surface is rust covered consider if the r calipers are shot and not contributing to braking (rebuilds weren't expensive). My 2800lb cow will halt in a startling short distance for its vintage, so should your's. Only scares I've had were wet-rotor related or glazed rotor related. SS lines make a small but perceptible difference and is a logical upgrade given your lines are nearly 20yrs old (!). Pads, try Axxis MetalMasters for f/r (sl more aggressive than Axxis Deluxe); last time around I tried Winwoods? (I think? can't remember) on rear, got from Andrews of Princeton (web indy in Minnesota).
