I replaced my 87 900 turbo convertible vacuum brake booster successfully.
Four items of note:
1. The ashtray bolt comes out, and the thing the bolt goes in to comes out as well after the ashtray is out.
2. The old booster didn't quite fit coming out because of a threaded bolt for adjusting some sort of pump or something to loosen/tighten it's belt. This threaded rod was in the way by about a half inch. Much prying was required. The replacement booster didn't quite fit going in either because of this threaded rod. A rubber mallet pounded it past the sticking spot. This may not be such a good idea but it's what finally worked.
3. When installing the replacement booster, make sure the linkage is lined up correctly before tightening. It wasn't difficult to work around not having done this, but it would've been easier to have done it to begin with.
4. Bleeding the brakes manually the old fashioned way takes for *(#&%( )*(#%&(*#& %# ever.
